THE CLIENT

EAGL Technology was founded in 2015 in direct response to the growing frequency of violence in American schools and hospitals. The company works with security professionals, government representatives, and facility managers to develop security systems tailored to each institution's threat profile and operating environment. Its focus is on the specific gap between the moment a threat is identified and the moment a coordinated response begins — a gap where seconds determine outcomes.

THE CHALLENGE

American schools and hospitals face a documented and growing threat from workplace violence and active shooter incidents. In 2023 alone, the US recorded over 400 mass shootings, with educational institutions among the most affected. Workplace violence in healthcare settings is now five times more likely than in other industries.

The institutions most at risk were equipped with physical security infrastructure (locks, cameras, alarm systems) but lacked a unified digital layer that could coordinate an instant, organization-wide response. The gap between threat detection and effective response was measured in minutes of fragmentation: calls to administrators, radios, manual lockdown procedures. EAGL needed a platform that could collapse that gap to seconds.

WHAT WE BUILT

Our experts built a cross-platform mobile application (compatible with iOS and Android) designed for use under extreme pressure. The interface was built around a single principle: in an emergency, the system must work for anyone, immediately, without training recall. One-button activation allows staff to identify the emergency type (active shooter, fire, health crisis) and trigger the appropriate response automatically.

The moment activation occurs, real-time alerts are dispatched to local police, fire departments, and internal security teams. Integration with the building's existing security infrastructure enables automated door lockdowns, preventing unauthorized access and containing the threat. Microsoft Power BI integration provides administrators and security teams with real-time tracking of response times, lockdown status, and active threat locations — giving decision-makers the situational data they need during an incident. Every component was designed to function reliably under the connectivity and operational conditions of a live emergency.

WHAT THIS SHOWS

Emergency response platforms sit at the intersection of UX design, systems integration, and operational reliability — and the design constraint that defines everything is that the system must work correctly the first time it is used in a real emergency, by a staff member under extreme stress. This is engineering with life-safety implications, and it demonstrates our ability to build to that standard.
