A connected hardware-to-cloud platform for PadelPlay — integrating physical sensors, mobile applications, AI performance analytics, and social features on a market-driven timeline.
PadelPlay is a sports technology company targeting the European padel market with professional-grade analytics tools accessible to everyday clubs and players. The padel market's growth trajectory in Europe created a narrow window for platform establishment: early-mover advantage in sports technology markets tends to compound, and late entry into a rapidly maturing category requires significantly more capital and differentiation to overcome. PadelPlay's commercial strategy was contingent on launching a credible product before that window closed.
The product vision required capabilities that do not exist off the shelf in combination: physical hardware sensors producing real-time on-court data, mobile applications processing and presenting that data, AI analytics translating sensor output into meaningful performance insights, and social and coaching features driving the ongoing engagement that sustains a consumer platform.
Building this stack from scratch, integrating hardware and software, and launching into a live market required engineering breadth and delivery discipline that the company could not assemble independently at the required speed.
Primero Group designed and built the full stack. Hardware sensor integration with mobile applications gave players and coaches real-time access to on-court performance data. The AI analytics layer processed shot distribution, rally tracking, and player trend data — moving beyond raw metrics to the kind of interpreted insight that a coach can act on and a player can understand.
Social features including match sharing and leaderboards, alongside personalized coaching tools, were built to drive retention beyond individual sessions. The cloud infrastructure was architected for scale from the outset: as club usage expanded, the platform was designed to absorb increasing data volume without architectural rework.
PadelPlay demonstrates the Group's capability to take a hardware-software integration product from concept to consumer launch — managing the full technical stack including IoT, mobile, AI, and cloud infrastructure simultaneously. This is a materially different engineering challenge from pure software delivery and reflects the breadth of the Group's technical capabilities across the portfolio.
